Hidden love..it’s in the atmosphere it is!

Today is day 14 of my vacation. Honestly can’t remember the last one. With my uncle’s passing, my dad a week later, then two of my favorite aunts a few months after that, well 2012 living has been a bit of a blurr; emotional liquidation.  Nevertheless the good news is I found my long lost aunt who declared to me she was my God mother! “Sorry I haven’t been in your life as I should have, been reinventing my life..” didn’t hear much after her announcement, as the word “reinventing” was ping ponging within me.

WOW that is EXACTLY how I had been feeling. No more visiting my dad, no more seeing that twinkle in those blue eyes,  no more gin tournaments, no more hearing about his latest golf game, no more Chinese take out and poker nites, no more Kentucky Derby events, no more hearing his “wheeze laugh” or seeing him stick out his teeth when we gave him his yearly Christmas gift of the next Nutcracker man, gawd he hated those wooden dolls, no more bringing him his favorite chocolate eclairs, no more hearing him rave about my sis’s awesome chocolate cake, no more spiritual talks about the meaning of life and the importance of family… no more with him, was  difficult to bury.

In the silence, my aunts voice came back to me so full of hope and indeed LIFE. She was my gift, someone lost, now FOUND! She too had lost emotionally and as she put it; for the first time in her life she had reclaimed what was hers…love. Debt free living

One can fantasize about hitting the lotto, not being at their present job, not being married to the person they are with now, getting married to the person they are with now, having that baby, sending the children off to private schools,…leaving for Iceland or becoming the practitioner, the sage, the priest the governess, the next Oprah…all the while missing the beauty, the bountiful gifts submerged within their very own soul. Coveting “others” lives and missing out on their very own being.

Today as I looked up in the sky, peering through a wind chime bought at a quaint lil store found while vacationing, it hits me again, thankfulness and joy start bubbling up.  So so much to be thankful for, so much of life yet to be discovered. It’s such an honor to be alive, not just existing to meet others needs but really living!

Like walking on water…well SITTING on water..that counts right?

Creating a quilt for my grandchild when a sewing machine was never used by me in my household!

Quilting is like love. Enter it with abandon or not at all.

My encouragers…all friends should be as these

I tear up thinking about it, how much fun it was learning something new and constructing something beautiful. Sure it was hard work, swallowing my pride was the hardest as I saw the smiles; “Whats a bobbin?” and by golly I threaded that thang!

The finished product may take awhile but guess what, once anyone commits to this sacred covenant of Honoring the Great  I AM, (not the ME, I, would of , could of, should of, consuming self) the teachers come and miracles become a daily happenstance.

About Brenda

"Brenda adores the birds. She is enchanted with their grace, their beauty. It was the birds and being out among them that gave her the peace she so needed and forged a new passion She uses a camera to capture those incredible moments, to savor them and share them with others. For her the camera was freedom. Brenda spent her life healing others, and dealing with incredible pain and despair. The world of birds and nature and photography was what she turned to in order to see the beautiful side of the world" -Eric Curtis Cummings

Lovely! It’s amazing what happens to us when we take our parents places as being the patriarchs and matriarchs of our families. Finding that our lives move in totally unexpected directions than what we assumed that they would.
